What helps most
- Roughly how many rooms, and whether the loft, garage and outbuildings are coming
- The floor at each end, and the lift door width if there is one
- Where a vehicle can legally stand at each address
- Any piece that is veneered, stone-topped, glazed, gilded or otherwise valuable
- How much of the packing you want done for you
- For a business move: floor area, desk count, and any landlord loading window
- If it is going abroad, the destination country and town, and how far along the residence paperwork is
Photographs help more than description
A photograph of the significant pieces, the staircase turn and the approach to the building tells us more in a moment than a paragraph does. Send them with the brief or at the survey — either is fine.
What happens next
We read it properly and come back to arrange a survey — at the property, or by video where that is easier. The written quote follows, setting out volume, crew, vehicle, packing depth, handling class for the significant pieces, and what cover applies.
